Snowsound Style: Acoustical Solutions Steeped in Italian Form and Function

Architects and designers specify Snowsound products whenever they require superior and award-winning acoustical performance. Snowsound technology significantly enhances an environment’s comfort by selectively absorbing the optimal amount of sound at different frequencies and reducing unwanted reverberation.

It all starts at Snowsound’s Italian headquarters in Milan where the R&D team is committed to advancing the science of sound while also ensuring aesthetics never take a back seat to performance.

That’s why Snowsound recently received two 2021 ADEX (Award for Design Excellence) Platinum Awards in the Acoustic Building Products | Decorative Acoustic Panels category. Bow, designed by King & Miranda, is a system of modular sound-absorbing elements inspired by the shapes of the hulls of ships. https://www.snowsoundusa.com/exploreideas/new-releases/

Dunes is a wall-applied acoustic solution designed by Felicia Arvid. It consists of two layers of Snowsound Fiber Boucle textiles, one of which serves as a flat base backing and the other as a three-dimensional sound-absorbing pocket created with repeating pleats held by steel clips. https://www.snowsoundusa.com/exploreideas/new-releases/

These ADEX Awards are just the latest industry stamp of approval for Snowsound’s superior design and performance. Snowsound has also received numerous other awards.

Snowsound regularly works with top Italian designers like Michele De Lucchi who co-founded the Memphis Movement in the 1980s with his Milan-based Cavart Group. De Lucchi is also known for designing Artemide’s iconic Tolomeo lamp. His portfolio ranges from furniture for established brands Vitra, Hermès and Kartel to involvement in office buildings and museum projects across Europe and Japan.

De Lucchi was director of design at Olivetti for a decade and he later designed products for Compaq Computers, Philips and Siemens. This impressive body of work informed his technical vision and aesthetic innovation when he partnered with Snowsound on the Mitesco line. Mitesco includes desk panels as well as cable, ceiling, magnetic, suspended, wall and freestanding applications.

De Lucchi aimed to create a versatile sound absorbing system that can be integrated into commercial spaces while being unobtrusive. His expertise in transforming a space has earned him a place in the architecture and design hall of fame and numerous awards including the Best of NeoCon Silver Award. https://www.snowsoundusa.com/products/snowsound-technology-panels/mitesco/

Snowsound's newest product line is Snowsound-Fiber—a patented textile with unsurpassed sound-absorbing properties. Like all Snowsound products, it artfully blends Italian style with performance for acoustically superior and aesthetically gorgeous spaces.
